Hamilton Community Health Network celebrates National Health Center Week with community events

FLINT, MI – Hamilton Community Health Network is celebrating this year’s National Health Center Week with events focusing on strengthening the community.

National Health Center Week is an annual celebration in August with the goal of raising awareness for the work and accomplishments achieved by the health centers.

Community health centers are the pillars of strength, hope and care within the communities they serve, according to the National Association of Community Health Centers.

Hamilton’s celebratory plans will run from Tuesday, Aug. 9 to Friday, Aug. 12. Hamilton continues its commitment to building strong communities with a week’s worth of civic engagement.

The free events specifically focus on helping strengthen the community through giving and providing access to communities in need of resources, according to a news release by Hamilton.

A Community Outreach Day is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in the parking lot of Hamilton-Flint Clinic, 812 Root St., which is also Center for Hope.

The event is for community members who are struggling with finding a place to call home.

During this event, Hamilton will provide free laundry, free showers, socks and underwear, clothing closet, hygiene kits, snacks, water bottles, a food truck for lunch, music and fun.

Hamilton will host a Senior Brunch and Learn from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 10, for the residents of the McFarlan Court Street Villages, 800 E. Court St.

Food, educational sessions, fitness, conversation, and health resources will be available. Seating is limited to 45 people. Those wishing to attend should RSVP with Lead Outreach Coordinator Tim McCarron at 810-406-4246, ext. 4955.

The final day of celebration is Hamilton’s Annual Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug.12, at Hamilton’s main clinic, 2900 N. Saginaw St. It will be “The Big Day” of food, live music, raffles, games, food demo with Chef Nate, health resources, and more. The event is free to the public.
