Wisconsin athletic board extends contracts of three fall sports coaches

MADISON -- The University of Wisconsin athletic board on Friday approved one-year contract extensions for three fall sports coaches.

Kelly Sheffield (volleyball), Paula Wilkins (women's soccer) and Neil Jones (men's soccer) saw their contracts extended through Jan. 31, 2028.

Sheffield led UW its fourth consecutive Big Ten title and then into the regional final of the NCAA women's volleyball tournament. The Badgers were eliminated by Pittsburgh, 3-2, to finish the season 28-4.

UW finished 6-3-1 in the Big Ten under Wilkins and 11-5-3 overall. Their season ended with a 1-0 loss to Penn State in the second round of the Big Ten tournament.

The men's soccer team finished 3-4-1 in Big Ten play and 6-6-4 in Jones' first season as head coach. The Badgers' season ended in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament. Seventh-seeded UW tied No. 2 Rutgers, 0-0, but the Scarlet Knights advanced on penalty kicks (5-4).
