The World’s Most Influential CEOs And Business Executives Of 2022

Who is the best CEO in the world? JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Tesla’s Elon Musk, or Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook? Or is it one of the old classics like Warren Buffett or Bernard Arnault? Well known or unknown, these are the most successful, talented, and influential CEOs for long-term investors to watch as they build great businesses that are worth holding for decades.

The CEOWORLD magazine has revealed its annual list of the most influential chief executive officers (CEOs) and business executives in the world. Unsurprisingly, Tim Cook (Apple) came first in the CEOWORLD magazine’s global ranking of the world’s best chief executives across all industries for 2022. He is followed by Satya Nadella, chief executive officer of Microsoft Corp. and CEO Sundar Pichai of Alphabet (Google). The 2022 rankings placed Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in 4th spot ahead of Tesla’s Elon Musk into 5th, and Meta (Facebook) founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg ranked sixth. Across multiple industries, leaders in tech, finance and manufacturing top the list with the most winners.

Of course, no list of CEOs to watch for long-term investing would be complete without including Warren Buffett, 90 years old and the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B). While Buffett ranked seventh, and Dr. C.C. Wei of TSMC Taiwan eighth. Overall, among the top 10 best CEOs and business executives in the world for 2022, the eighth, ninth, and tenth positions are held by Dr. C.C. Wei of TSMC Taiwan, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Visa Inc. chief executive Alfred F Kelly Jr.

Methodology (The CEO Leaderboard): CEOWORLD magazine’s global ranking of the best chief executives for 2022 measured more than 1,200 CEOs across 96 countries. Taking a long view of business performance, the methodology is primarily based on the financial returns for the CEO’s entire tenure, which makes up 60 per cent of the final ranking, as opposed to stock price and the current quarter’s numbers.

To calculate the final position, the additional 40 per cent of a CEO’s ranking factors in a company’s track record on environmental, governance, and social issues, as well as market shares, change of market capitalization, and brand’s newsworthiness and impact.
