Using the Online GST/HST NETFILE Form

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) allows businesses to file their GST/HST return online using the GST/HST NETFILE form. What Is the GST/HST NETFILE Form?

The GST/HST NETFILE form is an online filing method that lets most GST/HST registrants submit their regular return and certain rebates directly to the CRA without signing in to a CRA account. You receive an immediate confirmation number once your return is accepted.

Who Can Use This Method

  • Most GST/HST registrants filing a regular return
  • Businesses without access to My Business Account

Before You Start

  • Your Business Number (BN)
  • Your 4-digit GST/HST access code
  • Your reporting period start and end dates
  • All GST/HST amounts in Canadian dollars
  • A supported web browser and enabled cookies

How to File Using the NETFILE Form

  1. Access the online GST/HST NETFILE form
  2. Enter your Business Number and access code
  3. Enter your reporting period dates
  4. Select applicable options (nil return, rebates, schedules)
  5. Enter your return amounts
  6. Review and certify your return
  7. Submit and save your 6-digit confirmation number

After You File

If you have an amount owing, you can proceed to make a payment to the CRA. If you are expecting a refund, you can speed up processing by setting up direct deposit.
