📌 What the T5007 Reports

A T5007 slip records specific benefit types paid to an individual, including:

  • 📌 Workers’ compensation benefits for injury, disability or death;
  • 📌 Social assistance payments or provincial/territorial supplements.

🧾 How It’s Used in Your Tax Return

When preparing your income tax return, enter the amounts shown on your T5007 slip in the corresponding lines:

  • ➡️ Workers’ compensation benefits (Box 10) are typically reported on line 14400 of your Income Tax and Benefit Return.
  • ➡️ Social assistance payments (Box 11) are reported on line 14500 (and may also affect net income calculations).

Although many T5007 amounts are not taxable, reporting them correctly ensures accurate calculation of benefits and tax credits such as the GST/HST credit and Canada Child Benefit.

📅 Deadlines and Filing

If you are the issuer (agency), you must file the T5007 information return and issue slips to recipients by the last day of February following the calendar year to which the return applies.

📘 Tips for Recipients

  • 🗃️ Keep copies of all T5007 slips you receive, as they may be needed when filing your taxes or claiming benefits.
  • 💡 If you receive multiple T5007 slips, enter each on your tax return in the correct box and year.
  • 📬 Slips are often mailed or made available electronically by the issuing agency by late February.
