🧑‍🎓 What is the Saskatchewan Graduate Retention Program?

The GRP provides a refundable tuition tax credit for eligible post-secondary graduates of the Province of Saskatchewan. The maximum lifetime credit amount has recently increased to up to CAD 24,000 for graduates on or after October 1, 2024.

📋 Who Qualifies?

  • Graduates of an accredited post-secondary program in Saskatchewan.
  • Individuals attaching the official GRP eligibility certificate to their tax return.
  • Residents of Saskatchewan during the year of graduation.

If you did not claim the credit in the year you graduated, you may request an adjustment from the CRA for eligible previous years.

🧾 How to Complete and File

To claim the credit:

  1. Download and complete Form RC360 on your computer with a PDF reader.
  2. Include your Saskatchewan Graduate Retention Program eligibility certificate.
  3. Attach the completed form to your annual Canadian tax return (T1).

Ensure that supporting tuition receipts and certificates are provided if filing a paper return.

💡 Tips for Claiming the Credit

  • Your unused credit amounts can generally be carried forward for up to nine years after your graduation year.
  • The credit is refundable, meaning it may reduce your tax payable or result in a refund.
  • If you moved out of Saskatchewan after graduation, you can still claim the credit by submitting an adjustment request to CRA with your eligibility certificate.
