🛂 Verification of Status (VOS) or Replacement of an Immigration Document
If you need formal proof of your immigration status or have lost/stolen a valid Canadian immigration document, you can apply to get a Verification of Status (VOS) document or request a replacement document using IRCC’s official application package. This is not a travel document but serves as proof of your status in Canada.
📥 What This Application Does
A Verification of Status (VOS) document provides details from your original immigration record such as your date of entry, type of document issued (e.g., work/study permit, visitor record) and other historical information. It does not replace your travel document.
You can also request a replacement of a current and valid temporary resident document that was lost, stolen or destroyed (visitor record, work permit, study permit, temporary resident permit).

📬 Where to Send Your Application

🧠 What You’ll Receive
IRCC will issue a plain‑paper Verification of Status document containing key details from your original immigration record. It does not serve as a travel document. Permanent residents requiring proof to re‑enter Canada need a valid Permanent Resident Card or Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD).
